Built on a Calgary driveway, not a business plan

Cindy Luterbach didn't set out to build a mobile bar company. She set out to make celebrations feel like an event — and a fully restored vintage Piaggio Ape, pouring two drinks at a time at someone's wedding, turned out to be exactly that.

It was ordered mid-trip, near the end of a month away — with no idea that in two weeks, gathering in groups would become the rarest thing in the world. Cindy had seen something like it once in England and couldn't stop thinking about it; this one turned up for sale in the UK, sky blue and built for delivery work, and the search was over. It arrived in Calgary in the spring of 2020, just as the province capped gatherings at 20 people — which meant figuring out how to run a mobile bar for backyards, not weddings. A standard 20L keg was far too much prosecco for a 20-person gathering, so that's when Bubbles and Brews learned to self-keg instead. The skill stuck: today, the Ape can self-keg almost anything you put in front of it.

Cindy is a mother to five and an entrepreneur at heart — but ask her, and she'll tell you the best part of her week is still the one spent setting up florals on the truck before a Saturday wedding.

When she's not pouring, she's usually painting, sketching, or making something with her hands — the same instinct for detail that shows up in every dried-flower arrangement and hand-lettered sign on the Ape.

Bubbles and Brews Canada has been pouring since 2020 — weddings, engagements, corporate events, conventions, children's birthday parties, even a movie night in the park. 60+ events later, across Calgary, Banff, and Canmore, it's still Cindy, more often than not, behind the taps.
